ITINERARIES AND EXCURSIONS

Besides the well-known itineraries and excursions that appear in several books and the ones normally tabled, we show you other three exclusive itineraries that can be easily done by departing from Beaulard.

First track
Start: Beaulard’s level crossing, 1100 m.

Following the road that leads to the “Vecchio Mulino” if you keep walking you will get to the tabernacle dedicated to the Holy Mary. On the left you will find the path to Puys Beaulard where great example of the Pinus sylvestris (Scots pine) and the spruce, that offer a great shelter for roe deers and deers. Arrived to the inhabited Puys (mt. 1496 s.l.m.). We invite you to visit the typical village, its fountains, the old communal oven, its characteristic Burgundian style dwellings (Blockbau) and the church of San Giovanni. Continue along the Colomion road until you reach the grange Gips; there you can admire a splendid view of the valley and, with a little luck, meet some roe deer. For the return, from the grange, look for the path that descends to the left, crosses the forest in reverse and passes near the grange Burs, continue downhill in the pine forest to reach the Old Mill road that leads to Royeres, turn right and continue to the starting p

Second track
Start: From San Giusto’s Square bellowing San Michele Arcangelo’s Church, 1216 mt.

Take the path that climbs to the left following the sign Rifugio Guido Rey, continue along the mule track, in a fresh and mixed forest (larches and firs). Going up, you will cross the old ski slopes of the former Beaulard ski resort. When you reach the Rifugio Guido Rey (1761 meters), continue to the right, following the signs for “San Giusto” for about 200 meters. From this point, enter the wood and follow the path that leads to the chapel dedicated to S. Giusto and S. Flavio in memory of the martyrdom suffered by the Saints persecuted by the Saracens in 900. According to legend, the water that flows from the source under the rock, besides being pure and fresh, possesses miraculous powers. Continue along the path and at the junction take a right, where you will meet the votive pillar dedicated to San Lorenzo (1827 meters) and, further down, the chapel of Santa Chiara (1680 meters). So come to the Grange di Refour (1483 meters), where we invite you to a short stop with a visit to the church dedicated to Saints Cosmas and Damian. Immediately at the exit of the village, you will find the path that will take you to the starting point. Do not forget to visit the Church of St. Michael the Archangel from the eleventh century in
CURIOSITY: The Wood of San Giusto, upstream of the village of Refour a Beaulard, already considered sacred in the pre-Cristrian era, houses a nucleus of larches of unknown age but certainly more than 600 years old. Among these, stands out for the twisted and tormented aspect of the larch where it is said that he found San Giusto refuge to observe the looting of the Abbey of Oulx, by the Saracens, before the year 1000.

Third track
Start: Puys Beaulard, 1496 mt.

At the exit of the village of Puys, at the first junction, take the path on the left towards the Chapel of the Madonna della Sanità (1922 m). Climb along the path, where you will cross a larch, you will appreciate a varied undergrowth with strawberries, raspberries, etc., you will meet a grove of green alders mixed with rhododendrons that offer their flowering at the end of June, as well as a shelter for the black grouse. Once in the vicinity of the Chapel called “Santè” (mt.1922) for its Occitan origins, you can choose to continue towards the grange Soullier (mt 2017) or head towards the Sanità pass (mt.2629). Once you reach the grange of the Soullier, where time seems suspended, you will find a margaria where you can buy the cheese produced on site. Finally, head to the Colomion road to go down to Puys Beaulard.
